| Uh…really, I don’t know where to start with this band. The only reason I was interested again in this band is that I was surfing around on Audioscrobbler — where I am now an paying member by the way, for some nice extra features — and there I saw the band The Darkness. I immediately remembered from a few years ago I had already downloaded something from those guys, but it was only one track and didn’t give a good impression.
Now it happened that suddenly a full album (Permission to Land) of this band was on my computer. And I listened to it and what does the band sound like? The lead-singer sings as if he’s a Queen-dude. The rest of it sounds like a rockband, especially the first track (Black Shuck) sounds like Peter Pan Speedrock. I don’t know whether I really like the voice of the leadsanger, but on the other hand, it is listenable. If you do a search on the Internet on the singer via images.google.com, you will immediately see why his voice is so high, tight paints are no good. Anyway there are some catchy songs in it. Although my feeling says they are somehow a “wrong” band, they do distinguish themselves with their sound anyway. And you never know whether someone out there does like them (more). |
